Privacy Policy

Overview
ScanKit ("we", "the app") is a document scanner for iOS. Your privacy is fundamental to how we build this app. All document scanning, OCR, and image processing happens entirely on your device. No images or document data are ever uploaded to our servers.
What We Don't Collect
- Camera images or video frames
- Scanned documents or pages
- OCR text extracted from your documents
- Signatures you draw
- Your location
- Your contacts
- Device identifiers (IDFA/GAID)
- Your name or email address
What We Collect
Anonymous Analytics
We use a self-hosted analytics service to understand how the app is used. This collects:
- Anonymous usage events (e.g., "scan completed", "document exported")
- Device type and OS version (e.g., "iPhone, iOS 17.2")
- App version
- A randomly generated device identifier (not linked to your Apple ID or Google account)
This data is anonymous and cannot identify you personally. It is stored on our self-hosted infrastructure.
Purchase Information
If you subscribe to ScanKit Pro, your purchase is processed by Apple or Google through their respective app stores. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID (not your Apple ID or Google account) to track your subscription state. We never see your payment details.
Crash Reports
We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports. These include device type, OS version, and stack traces. They do not include any personal information or document data.
Camera Permission
ScanKit requires camera access to scan documents. Camera frames are processed on-device in real-time for edge detection and are never stored, recorded, or transmitted.
Data Storage
Your scanned documents, OCR text, and signatures are stored locally on your device only. They are never synced to any server. Deleting the app removes all local data permanently.
Third-Party Services
| Service | Purpose | Data Shared |
|---|---|---|
| RevenueCat | Subscription management | Anonymous user ID, purchase status |
| Firebase Crashlytics | Crash reporting | Device info, crash logs |
| Self-hosted analytics | Usage analytics | Anonymous events, device type |
Children's Privacy
ScanKit is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Your Rights
Since we don't collect personal data, there is nothing to access, correct, or delete. Your documents are stored locally on your device and can be deleted by removing the app.
Changes
We may update this policy. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
